A graduate of the American Academy for Girls (İstanbul), Bradford Junior College (U.S.A. - A.A. in Liberal Arts) and State School of Applied Fine Arts (İstanbul - B.A. in Graphic Design), Serpil Ural has been writing and illustrating children’s books since 1978.
She has attended a three months’ stipendium program at the International Youth Library in Munich/Germany (1980) and has participated in international congresses and illustrators’ exhibitions in various countries.
Some of her books were dramatized and broadcasted on television at home and abroad.
She has served on the Board of Consultants for Children’s Books of the Turkish Ministry of Culture (1992-2003) and was on the Board of Editors of a monthly periodical for parents and teachers (2000-2009) and a member of the Executive Committee of IBBY(International Board of Books for Young) for two terms (2014-2018)
Serpil Ural lives in İstanbul and continues to work as a freelance author/illustrator.
